Wearing your faith when you don’t feel like it…
The motto goes, “Why have a good day when you can have a GOD day?” A very catchy and cute shirt idea that sprung from a conversation between two great amazing friends. Inspiration kind of works like that for me. We could be chatting on the phone, listening to music, worshipping God, or even washing the dishes...God gives me inspiration in everything. So we kicked off the launch of the Have A God Day T-shirt & the orders were coming in for the design. I was getting stopped and asked everytime I wore the shirt, “What does that mean?” or “Where can I get that from?”. Someone even ordered a pillow so they could wake up to this saying everyday!! The love was oh so real! I have several colors of the design myself & switched them up from time to time.
However, during this high season of
having amazing God days, my family was hit with some shattering news
that changed our lives. In June of this year, my mom was diagnosed with
breast cancer and the news was a lot for me to process. (Click the picture to the left & watch the video I recorded it the same day I found out the news.) The weight and heaviness of this report left me not wanting to ever put a “Have a God Day!” shirt on, but I couldn’t let that be my story. I mean who's report was I going to really believe! I had to keep pressing forward and wear my shirts on days when it didn’t even feel like God was anywhere in the mix. But isn't that what faith really is about... pressing forward and believing even when it doesn’t look like it.
After my mom saw the shirt, she requested one in pink to wear to her chemo visits. I jazzed it up a bit by adding some pink rhinestones to the mix and a masterpiece was created! (Yeah, that’s how I feel when I create shirts---masterpieces, one of a kinds, etc.) We prayed and laid hands on the shirt, but we believed God for a healing more than anything. While attending many chemo treatments and tests, my mother would rock her pink “Have a God Day” breast cancer shirt to her doctor visits smiling and cheesing from ear to ear! Even with cancer, my mother still had her smile and joy! Don't get me wrong, I know my mother had bad days, believe me! She would feel really tired some days not even having an appetite. Her skin experienced some changes and of course bye, bye to her hair. But Thank God we live in an era where everybody is rocking a weave, wig, or lace front----so my momma is ALL to the GOOD!
In October, we received some good news from the doctor that the cancer has shrunk tremendously plus the genetic test came back negative confirming that the cancer is not hereditary. Which was great news for my sister and I. If the test was positive, my sister and I would have to get screened for early mammograms since we would be considered "high risk", so glory to God the test came back negative and our bodies do not have the gene. But the blessing didn't stop there...oh no! Today, December 11, 2017, the doctor reported to my mom that after months of chemotherapy treatments and surgery she is CANCER FREE!!! Yaaasss!!! I am super duper happy! Like for real, God healed my mom from Stage 2 aggressive breast cancer and I couldn't feel more joy inside. How could cancer or any obstacle standing in your way ever have a chance at destroying you if you always have joy, faith, and standing on God's Word? How could anything attempt to ever knock you down, if you always wake up decreeing and declaring you will have a “Have a GOD day!”? It can’t. It may try to shake you, but you won’t fall. For example, my mother was in pain at every chemo treatment and the days following after treatment were very exhausting for her; however, she still wore her shirt, smiled during the process, and didn’t let cancer determine if she was going to have a God day or not.
So was God truly testing my faith in the process of encouraging others?
I am absolutely positively sure of it.
How can I declare and stand on my faith to share with others unless it’s apart of my testimony too?Are my shirts really testimonies of God’s miraculous healing power? I believe so & that’s good enough for me, so it should be good enough for you! I totally believe that the same Holy Ghost filled power that was on Jesus back then when the woman touched the hem of His garment, is the same power WE have in our very garments today! You just have to believe it, by faith! And for any doubters and unbelievers out there, hold tight! Come meet the woman in the picture below who went to weekly chemo treatments while fighting for her life wearing her pink "Have a God Day" shirt and because of her FAITH in the blood of Jesus, she was healed. Her name is Deborah New-Cross and she's my momma!

There's this shirt going around that says, "I love Jesus, but I cuss a little"...cute shirt right? Well, I thought so. But for me, it wasn't "truth enough" for "D.New G" (that's my old rapper name...#dontjudgeme) to rock it! I mean let's be honest, I cuss! I cuss and I can cuss gooood!! I was raised by some good cussers. I've heard my grandma spew a few in a day or two, so hearing those "tough love" words early on in my childhood didn't necessarily mean - "a harsh way to talk to people", but more so "words of endearment". Call me crazy, but it was.
For me, cussing is using passionate words to express yourself or REALLY get your point across. Like an exclamation point to the 10th degree (see pic below)
But seriously, I've read the scriptures, I've prayed the prayers and I don't believe they are NICE words, but I do think they're sometimes "okay" - only if you're grown and paying your own bills, not in front of my momma or my elders, try not too in front of the kids, and do it in moderation plus saying them with a joke is okay too. I also think any word that's used in the Bible is definitely approved, certified, and "Grade A" stamped okay...right? Heck, I even went into spiritual warfare telling the devil, "to get his a** out of my life and go back to hell where he belong!!"...I sure did AND I'll do it again! Was I wrong?...hmph, maybe so - I don't know, but in the meantime I created this shirt to outwardly show my desperation for prayer and still be fashionably cute while rocking it!
It's kind of like how Kanye West wrote Jesus Walks and said, "Then I hope this takes away from my sins..." WELL, I hope it works for me too and wearing this shirt takes away from my sins with cussing plus I've said it before in other videos and posts that our shirts are testimonies...sooo by faith we'll stop cussing in no time! But I need you to rock it too!! Let's stand in solidarity, proclaiming to the world - "Yes, we cuss and we like it and we maybe kind of don't like it - so pray for us! Yaahh go head and just pray for us! You do that!" It'll totally be like we're cheering for Jesus...I mean can't you just see heaven being bombarded with prayers of the righteous - now YOU know you know plenty of niggas that cuss! Oh shoot - can I say "nigga"?...see, just pray for me...#SHIRTSTORY
